Did you know that when it comes to oiling your hair, there are some golden rules? You’ve undoubtedly heard enough about its advantages since you were a kid. However, are you doing it correctly? Here are some amazing benefits of using Ayurvedic Oil.
According to Ayurveda, oiling your hair incorrectly can cause more harm than good. To encourage hair development and improve the condition of your hair, you must oil it properly.
Why Should You apply Oil To Your Hair?
According to the Ayurvedic theory of tridoshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha control human health and well-being. Aggravation of any energy will disturb the balance of your entire body’s function.
The pressure points on your scalp known as ‘Marmas’ serve as junction places for the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas.
These marmas are activated by massaging the scalp with Ayurvedic oils infused with dosha-specific herbs, which allows the excess doshas to be balanced. As a result, your hair issues are automatically resolved.
The following are some of the advantages of using an Ayurvedic oil on your scalp and hair:
- Strengthens your hair roots, which promotes new hair growth.
- Nourishes your hair shaft by adding the necessary vitamins and minerals.
- Controls frizz and dryness by deep conditioning your hair and imparting a soft texture.
- Protects your hair from harsh environmental conditions including the sun’s UV rays.
- Improves blood circulation in the head region, which lowers stress and promotes good sleep.
- Ayurvedic oils with dosha-specific herbs can resolve your hair issues like premature greying, scalp acne, dandruff, itchy scalp, inflammation, etc.
How to Apply Oil To Your Hair According To Ayurveda?
Here’s a step-by-step guide to oil your hair properly, as recommended by ancient Ayurvedic scripts:
Step 1: In a small bowl, heat a few spoons of hair oil (enough for your hair volume and length) on a low flame. Do not overheat the oil; leave it warm.
Step 2: Part the hair on the top region of your head in the middle.
Step 3: Now, on your head, locate the ‘crown chakra,’ which is eight fingers above the center of your eyebrows.
Step 4: Apply some oil on the crown chakra and then tap on it gently using your palm 8 times.
Step 5: Slowly rub the oil into your crown chakra point with your palm.
Step 6: After that, find the apex point on your scalp, which is four fingers distance behind the crown chakra point.
Step 7: Massage your apex point with warm oil in the same way you massaged your crown chakra point.
Step 8: Using your fingertips, evenly spread the oil across your entire scalp.
Step 9: Starting from the apex point, gently massage your scalp stroking down the middle line on either side of the apex point.
Step 10: Start massaging in the other direction, starting from the center of your sides to the apex point.
Step 11: Using your finger pads, gently massage your scalp across the front, back, and sidelines around the apex point in circular motions.
Step 12: Massage your crown chakra again for the second time.
Step 13: Finally, apply the remaining oil to your hair shaft and give it a slow and gentle massage.
Detangle your hair with fingers. The entire procedure may take up to 10-15 minutes.
Should you apply oil to your hair on a daily basis?
You should oil your hair every day. Oiling hair every day, however, may result in an unwanted buildup of products and dirt on your scalp and hair. This, in turn, will lead to clogging of your hair follicles, cause dandruff and hair loss. These are Some Benefits Of Using Ayurvedic Oil.
