Peppermint helps relieve discomfort in the body, toothache, headache and nerve pain. Chewing on certain leaves not only helps to ease the digestion but also has a relaxing and soothing effect on your mind. Its therapeutic properties help the muscles and nerves relax in the event of soreness or cramps. So soak in a moist, scented tub with 10 to 12 drops of peppermint oil before bed.

Epsom salt

Epsom salt serves as an effective home remedy for constipation because it helps contract the bowel muscles and allows digestive waste to pass through. Put two teaspoons of Epsom salt in a cup of water or fruit juice, and drink every day. In the salt, the magnesium also induces muscle relaxation and regeneration. Combine your bath with warm water, add two cups of salt, whisk vigorously and sit in the bath for a good 20 minutes. Research also shows that sometimes washing swallowed fingers in warm Epsom salt water baths can cause pain. Soak up the affected area for 15 to 25 minutes twice daily, before the pain goes away.

Turmeric – Chronic Pain Relief

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, assists in alleviating chronic pain. It is also known to have anti-inflammatory properties which help relieve joint and muscle pain and reduce swelling. It’s antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-carcinogenic properties make your safety quotient a good addition to your meals. Blend equal quantities of turmeric and aloe vera gel together, and apply directly to areas caused by itchy skin patches, bites and poison ivy. In the case of mouth ulcers, apply a paste over the infected region by mixing a pinch of turmeric along with one tablespoon of water and one-half tablespoon of coconut oil.

The anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties help relieve dental pain and combat oral and mouth infections. In the event of a toothache, grind two cloves, mix the powder with some olive oil and apply directly over the affected area. You can also suck in on a slice of clove, for immediate relief. This spice will also help in easing pain and reducing any swelling. Heat some clove oil slightly, and massage it gently several times a day on the affected area.
