Squares On Tubes Mean Something

Square on tubes means something

Circulating message claims customers can tell the chemical structure of tube contents simply by checking the color of a small square at the bottom of the tube or box. A newer variant focuses on toothpaste tubes. So, Did you know? Squares On Tubes Mean Something

The claims in the message are incorrect. The squares, called “eye marks,” are markings that are used in the packaging process, and do not indicate the chemical content of the tubes in any way. The marks tell packaging machines when certain tasks should be performed, such as cutting or crimping tubes.

What Does Square on Tubes Mean?

Green: All Natural

Red: Some Natural, but Most Chemical

Black: Only Chemicals

Another variant claims:

Black / Blue line: 100% chemical

Red Line: 50% artificial, 50% natural

Green Line: 100% natural

The squares are part of the manufacturing process, and are called eye marks.

The hidden information in these colored squares is read by light beam sensors and it tells the high-speed machinery where it’s necessary to cut and fold the packaging.

Squares On Tubes Mean Something

The color on the bottom of the tube doesn’t tell you which of the above ingredients is in the toothpaste, or whether it’s considered “natural” or “chemical.”

Even if the color codes theory turned out to be true, it wouldn’t really make any sense. Everything  is made of chemicals – including natural ingredients – and the term “medicine” is too vague to really mean anything.

If you’re concerned about what’s inside your toothpaste, read the ingredients on the tube correctly. If in any doubt, Choose a toothpaste with an American Dental Association ( ADA) Approval Seal. The ADA seal means that it has been verified and proven to be safe and effective for your teeth.

Printed squares on tubes have absolutely nothing to do with the product’s chemical. It is an eye-mark used in the production process by sensors. Usually the color of the eye mark is selected from the available colors that are used in the tube artwork.
