Story of Australian model Turia pit who lost her fingers and thumb on her right hand and remained in hospital for five months. In 100 kilometers of ultra-marathon in Kimberley, she was caught by a grassfire.
Ms Pitt, 26, who was a Kununurra-based mining engineer, suffered burns to more than 60% of her body and was unable to work since the accident.
She spent more than $3 million reconstructing her face , hands and body.
Her husband wanted to leave work in order to take care of her recovery. In earlier days, they asked him in a CNN interview:
Have you ever thought of leaving her and hiring someone else to look after her and move on with your life?
His reply: I married her spirit, her character, and she is the only woman who will continue to fulfill my dreams.

Their connection is like the essential part of Turia’s survival story.
She also quotes the love of Michael during her traumatic ordeal as he makes her feel like “the world’s luckiest person.” Turia Pitt was born in Tahiti but moved to Australia with her family when she was 3 years old.
Turia had found her dream work at Rio Tinto and began a new life with Michael. This is when their world turned upside down in September 2011.
